Graded Examination in Spoken English GESE and ISE

inlingua Cheltenham are Accredited by Trinity College, London to offer GESE and ISE preparation courses for.  These courses are available to all groups who wish to use this examination for specific reasons which can be for example PON funded programme or similar EU funded programmes.

GESE which stands for the Graded Examination in Spoken English is test conducted on site at inlingua Cheltenham where students can be graded from 1 to 12 which relate to the following language proficiency levels.

Initial Grades 1-3
Elementary Grades 4-6
Intermediate Grades 7-9
Advanced Grades 10-12

 

These can in turn be related to the CEFR language levels and Grade 2 to 5 relate to certain types of visa required for ‘Level to Remain’, ‘Indefinite leave to remain and ‘British Citizenship’. Further details are available on the Trinity College website https://www.trinitycollege.com/site/?id=3218

Groups of young adults from overseas who wish a proficiency examination in speaking, GESE is the ideal qualification and can give you a language level at one of the most important skills most students and adults require for employment.

ISE which stands for the Integrated Skills in English (ISE) is an examination using the four skills qualification intended for young people and adults – typically at school, college or university level. It is also suitable for teachers and other adults who require a respected English language qualification.

ISE assesses students’ ability to interact in English in an authentic and meaningful way through the use of integrated reading and writing tasks and integrated speaking and listening tasks. Preparing for ISE builds real-life English skills and transferable skills required for academic study and employability.

As you can see from the examination structure below this test relates to all four skills and can be taken at inlingua Cheltenham if you wish or at any Trinity examination centre in your country.
