For many years inlingua Cheltenham has been involved in preparing students for Higher Education either for undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. inlingua Cheltenham with its vast experience of language preparation and coupled with our experienced academic staff can offer you our unique International Foundation Course. The course is based on the ABE certificate programme we have offered for the last two years.
The 24 or 36 week International Foundation Course consists of the following topics plus IELTS preparation. To gain entry to the university of your choice you need to successfully pass each of the subjects areas below and gain an IELTS 6.0.
On successful completion of the course you will be able to gain entry to the following universities:

OPTION 1
The six compulsory subjects for the course are:
1. Introduction to Business
a. Understand the nature and purpose of business activity
b. Describe the structure of business
c. Understand the business objectives of the various stakeholders
d. Understand the environment within which business operates and the services available to assist
e. Define and describe the functional activities within an organisation and understand the importance of their interdependence
f. Apply business theory and concepts to practical business problems
2. Introduction to Quantitative Methods
a. Apply the rules of numeracy
b. Carry out basic numerical calculations with or without a calculator
c. Use elementary algebra
d. Present and use mathematical data in graphical form
e. Present and analyse simple business data
f. Apply statistical analysis to business data
g. Use the laws of probability
3. Introduction to Accounting
a. Understand the basic principles of both financial accounting and management accounting and their applications
b. Acquire the knowledge and techniques in the performance of both financial and management accountancy functions in industry and commerce
4. Introduction to Business Communication
a. Written English
b. Correspondence
c. Principles of Communication
d. Communications Technology
e. Graphs
5. IT Applications and Skills
a. To introduce candidates to the basic workings of the personal computer and its commonly used peripherals.
b. To provide an overview of the range and scope of IT in business and administration.
c. To develop basic IT skills using Windows, email and the Internet
d. To introduce students to a widely available integrated office productivity package.
e. To develop practical skills in text processing.
f. To be able to design and build simple spreadsheets and databases.
g. To be responsible for managing the security and integrity of their own work files.
h. To be aware of commonly used applications software for larger scale corporate administration and production.
6. IELTS preparation
When do courses start:
a. 36 week course available from September to June
b. 24 week course available from January to June
Entry Requirements
1. Aged 17 years old and over
2. Have matriculated from your own country's education system OR have the equivalent of five GCSE passes, including Mathematics
3. Non-native speaking students, language level required should be one of the following:
a. Take the inlingua online language level test (www.inlingua.com) .Gain a result of at least level 2 for the 36 week course or level 3 for the 24 week course.
b. IELTS 4.5 or above for the 36 week course or IELTS 5.0 or above for the 24 week course. |
